San Gimignano intensive
The Manhattan of Tuscany – as San Gimignano is often called! The towers, a unique architectural craze that was preserved here better than anywhere else, are the main reason why San Gimignano became world famous. We will use the day to gain a thorough sense of the history, the curiosities and the exploits of this small Tuscan hill town.
From an artistic point of view San Gimignano has a great deal to offer: the Cathedral decorated with frescos throughout and the chapel of Santa Fina with masterpieces by Ghirlandaio, to name but a few … Or the rich interior of the church of Sant’ Agostino, the treasures and frescoes in the halls of the Museo Comunale … and so much more.
San Gimignano is prized not only for its architecture but also for its cuisine: its much-loved chocolate ice-cream and Vernaccia wine have contributed to San Gimignano’s prominence. So it’s only right that we should take time to sample them too!
